Pyramid targets global sales following MBO – Daily Business

A Scottish manufacturer of insect repellents is targeting new markets following a management buy-out.
Managing director Stefan Cameron has taken a majority stake in Kelso-based Pyramid Travel Products, buying out previous majority shareholder Scotmas Group in a deal backed by a £600,000 package from HSBC UK.
Pyramid specialises in the manufacture of health-related travel products for customers such as outdoor adventurers and gardeners, with a particular emphasis on safety in malaria-prone and tropical regions.
Following the MBO it aims to expand its online sales presence, shifting focus towards individual customers while maintaining its business relationships with companies such as Mountain Warehouse and Ocado.
Mr Cameron said: “The ownership transition will enable us to be better prepared and positioned for future growth as market demands and our service offering evolves.”
The business, which already has a presence in Germany, Chile, Singapore and Norway is looking to expand the product range and enter new territories.
In 2024 it had a turnover of about £1m and has a current workforce of seven full-time staff, including technical, operations, and production roles. The business is also hiring two additional seasonal staff during the summer to meet increased demand.
