Andy Murray has parted company with Novak Djokovic after just six months as his coach.

The Scot teamed up with the 24-time Grand Slam champion for the first time in November as he entered a new phase of his career after retirement from playing.

The high point of the brief partnership came in the Australian Open where the Serb reached the semi-finals before retiring injured.

The decision is reported to have been my mutual consent, with the pair remaining good friends.

“Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun and support over last six months on and off the court – really enjoyed deepening our friendship together,” Djokovic said.

Murray, who can count two Wimbledon singles titles and a US Open victory in an illustrious career, added: “Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together, and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months.

“I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season.”
