Ex-fire fighter takes up top Cairngorm role – Daily Business

An adventure sports and tourism specialist is taking on the top job at one of Scotland’s top outdoor attractions.

Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) has appointed Mike Gifford as chief executive from 16 June.

Reporting to the board of CMSL, which is a subsidiary of development agency Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Mr Gifford will continue the transition to a year-round attraction.

An experienced ski, paddle sports, mountaineering and mountain biking instructor, the Aberdonian worked as a fire fighter with Grampian Fire and Rescue Service while also setting up and running his own outdoor activities business, Adventure First.
