Menzies Aviation in $305m acquisition of US rival – Daily Business

Menzies Aviation is expanding in the US

Menzies Aviation, which provides services to airports and airlines around the world, is acquiring US-based G2 in a $305m deal.

The deal is expected to boost Menzies’ group revenue by 20% to more than $3.1 billion, based on FY 2024 revenue figures.

Established in 2005, G2 has a strong growth history within the US with a focus on providing passenger assistance, cabin cleaning and ground and air cargo handling at airports across the country, including major airline hubs.

Menzies, which has its roots in Edinburgh as the John Menzies stationery business, first entered the US market in 2000 and currently provides ground, air cargo and fuel services.

The deal strengthens Menzies’ position as the largest aviation services business globally, by countries, airports and aircraft turns.

It will see Menzies operating in 340 airports in 65 countries with a global team of 65,000 employees.

Menzies Aviation became the world’s largest aviation services company in 2022 when Agility, a supply chain services, infrastructure and innovation company, bought the business.

Commenting on the G2 deal, John Redmond, executive vice president Americas at Menzies Aviation, said: “This acquisition is a key milestone in our longer-term value creation strategy.

“This deal enhances our presence in the United States – the largest and most dynamic aviation market worldwide, and we look forward to working with the G2 team to realise the potential for growth.

“We are confident in the resilience and strength of the US economy and aviation market, where we have been a key player for 25 years.”
