Herd returns to Muir Homes as managing director – Daily Business

Robert Herd, a former site manager at Muir Homes, has returned to the family-owned Scottish housebuilder as managing director.

Mr Herd rose through the ranks to become construction manager before briefly stepping away. Now, he returns to lead the company at a time of significant growth and investment.

His appointment is part of a wider expansion at Muir Homes, which has seen a series of key promotions and new hires as the company strengthens its market position.

Martin Smith, chief executive of Muir Group, said: “Robert has an impressive track record in housebuilding, and we are delighted to  welcome him back.”

The group encompasses Muir Construction, Muir Homes, Muir Timber Systems, Muir Property Development, JW Muir Property Investments, and Deer Park Golf & Country Club.

It has 245 employees, a £90 million turnover in 2023 and net assets of £87 million.
