True North Advisors opens new office, hires key staff – Daily Business

True North Advisors, the communications agency, has expanded into London and hired a prominent journalist to support a growing portfolio of clients.
The new London operation will be led by Andrew Liddle, a former Labour Party adviser who has relocated from Edinburgh.
Replacing him in the city is Calum Ross, who recently stood down as education correspondent at The Scotsman newspaper and previously worked at the Press & Journal. He spent four years as a lobby journalist at Westminster.
Also joining the firm is Geri Mulvany, who becomes a creative adviser within its content studio, based in Aberdeen.
True North Advisors is led by managing partners Geoff Aberdein, former chief of staff to the First Minister of Scotland and global head of external affairs at Aberdeen Standard Investments, together with Fergus Mutch, who previously served as head of communications & research for the SNP. They are joined by senior partner and former journalist Ryan Crighton.
Commenting on the expansion, Mr Aberdein said: “Establishing a permanent presence in London is a bold and necessary step for the company.”
Mr Ross said: “After nearly two decades in journalism, I’m excited to start this new chapter with True North Advisors. I’ve spent my career telling stories that matter and now I’m looking forward to helping clients navigate their communications priorities.”
True North is chaired by Martin Gilbert, co-founder of Aberdeen Asset Management and a former co-chief executive of Standard LIfe Aberdeen, now Aberdeen Group.
