Dimes quits Babcock a week after leaving Iomart – Daily Business

Lucy Dimes will leave the Babcock board

Lucy Dimes, who last week parted company with Scottish cloud computing firm Iomart, is also leaving the board of engineering group Babcock International.

Babcock, which serves the defence, emergency services and civil nuclear sectors, announced that Ms Dimes, a non-executive director, has decided to retire and will not stand for re-election at the company’s annual general meeting on 25 September.

She sat on the company’s audit, remuneration and nominations committees, and was regarded as instrumental in the company’s turnaround and success since her appointment in 2018.

One source said her departure “marks a significant change in the board’s composition, potentially impacting the company’s strategic direction”.

In a statement, the company said: “The board thanks Lucy for her commitment and support since being appointed in April 2018.

“During this time, the company has benefited greatly from Lucy’s input and positive contribution to its turnaround and successes.  The company wishes her well for the future.”

Ms Dimes left Glasgow-based Iomart less than two years after being appointed CEO with chairman Richard Last stepping in as executive chairman with immediate effect.

She has operated in senior executive positions in FTSE 100, FTSE 250 and private equity owned companies spanning telecoms, technology, business services and financial services.

Key roles include chief strategy and transformation officer at Virgin Money UK, CEO of UBM EMEA and chief executive, UK & Ireland, at Fujitsu.

She has held other senior roles at Equiniti Group, Alcatel Lucent (now Nokia) and BT, and was a non-executive director at Berendsen.
